Palate

Powerful and poised, this Port Ellen opens with an oily, resinous peat that coats the palate like smoke on iron. Sea-salt and iodine ride the wave of charred oak, while sherry-cask sweetness threads through dark fig, raisin and cocoa. A peppery, warming spine supports a muscular mid-palate, culminating in a long, ashy finish with lingering marine smoke and antique leather.

Finish

An enduring maritime finish: peat smoke and sea spray linger on the tongue, slowly giving way to dark sherry-tinged fruit, cocoa, and leather. The warmth tightens into peppery spice with a final ashy note and a long, resinous oak echo that persists.
