Port Charlotte Islay Barley Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2008 Vintage
Out of stock
Peated to 40 phenol parts per million, this is perhaps the first-ever heavily-peated single malt to be crafted exclusively from Islay-grown barley.
"What a lovely Port Charlotte! On the nose the cereal is stronger while on the palate it’s the fruity character that shines which makes it a bold and well rounded whisky. It’s a sleek and velvety offering to the peat lovers." Whisky Gospel.
"It’s a searing whisky with lots of peat and seaweed in the mix. Nice balance." DrinkHacker.
A superb example of how to make an interesting and complex peated malt without having to wait 10 years, many Islay distilleries would kill to be able to make whisky this good after just 6 years.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep golden amber with coppery highlights and a sunlit honey glow.
Nose
Salted pineapple and lime curd mingle with mineral barley, while sweet citrus peat broadens the nose. Fresh coastal sea breeze carries subtle soapy notes and hints of oily fishing ropes, finishing delicate and perfumed.
Palate
Fresh and inviting, with perfumed, grassy and creamy peat, lemons and limes, buttery biscuity grain/barley, and herbal pear drops.
Finish
A lingering, smoky finish blends smoked shortbread with red apple and ashy kiwi fruit, carried by aromatic grassy peat, pear drops, and a vein of creamy vanilla and lime curd.
