To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Port Askaig, Elixir Distillers has bottled a 10 Year Old Port Askaig. It comes from 25% first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, 60% refill hogsheads and 15% ex-solera sherry butts.
It's bottled at 55.85% ABV after the geographical latitude of the port…Just 33 casks have been used.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep coppery amber with burnished gold and mahogany hues.
Nose
Sweet and smoky, with lemon zest, peaches and honey giving a radiant sweetness. A veil of vanilla and cake batter, candied ginger spice the air, followed by coal-fire smoke, lacquered barbecue, brine and a whisper of antiseptic.
Palate
Sweet, oily and intensely maritime, with citrus and freshly cut green apples, a touch of buttery sweetness, almonds and honey, and a hint of roasted pineapple. Notes of coffee and salty marzipan add depth, followed by a light peppery heat. A pronounced ash and smoke core remains, with coastal hints of olive oil lingering.
Finish
Long, ashy and sulphury, with herbal hints, pepper and a delicate, lingering fruity sweetness.
