The perfect introduction to the Isle of Islay, Port Askaig 8 Year Old has a soft, sweet peaty character balanced to perfection. Ageing in refill American oak allows the character of the spirit to shine through, making for a gentle, smoky, moreish dram.
Aromas of sea spray and shells with burnt leaves and sootiness ebb and flow on the nose. Sweet ashes, vanilla, almonds with a lemon & salt combination follows. Accompanied by light notes of pear drops and fresh barley. The flavour is intense, with lemon candy sweetness and honey, followed by peat smoke, almonds and a rather medicinal overtone. Growing pepper and nutmeg. Hints of liquorice and soft minerals. The finish is satisfyingly dry, with more herbal notes and lemon.

Intense on the palate, lemon candy sweetness and honey give way to peat smoke and almonds, with a medicinal edge. Pepper and nutmeg rise, while hints of liquorice and soft minerals add depth.
