Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with mahogany depth and a coppery glow.
Nose
Opulent sherry sweetness envelops dried fruits: raisin, fig and prune, beneath a lacquered oak spine. Hints of toffee, dark chocolate and walnut lend richness, while leather and beeswax add aged grandeur. Spices ripple through: cinnamon, clove, and a whisper of orange zest. Velvet-soft on the nose, with a dignified, long finish suggesting decades of cask maturation.
Palate
Silky and sumptuous, the palate opens with raisin and fig, layered over toffee and dark chocolate with a hint of orange zest. Sherry-influenced fruit integrates with Mortlach’s savory, waxy core, touched by nutmeg, cinnamon and polished oak. A warm, lingering finish of sweet spice and tobacco.
Finish
An exceptionally long, refined finish that glides through dark fruit, cocoa and toasted oak. Sherried sweetness lingers, revealing leather, fig and orange zest before slowly fading to a warm, silky glow. A dignified, contemplative finish that stays with you, whispering of patience and rare craftsmanship.
