Distilled on 5 February 1987 and bottled on 26 January 2021 at 55.6% ABV, this 33-year-old Mortlach was drawn from a refill sherry hogshead (cask #426) for Gordon & MacPhail’s long-running Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength series and yielded 182 bottles.
Three decades in sherry wood have given the whisky impressive depth while allowing Mortlach’s famously robust Speyside character – often nicknamed “The Beast of Dufftown” – to shine through.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Festive spice and rich fruitcake combine with a hint of citrus. Cocoa powder develops accompanied by dark honey.
Palate
Stewed red berries and smooth orange zest intertwine with nutmeg spice. A hint of dark chocolate and malted biscuit balances soft herbal notes.
Finish
A light to medium finish with lingering roasted nuts and mature oak.
