Mortlach Chieftain's Single Cask #5185 Whisky 25 Year Old · 1990 Vintage
Out of stock
As we all know, the 25 year old Mortlach distillery bottling priced circa £600 for 50cl is a great dram, it just makes this outstanding value for money! Just 675 bottles yielded from its Sherry Cask #5815. Bottled at 46% ABV and of course unchill-filtered and natural colour.
Probably the pick of all the single cask offerings released by Chieftan's in 2016 (closely followed by that 20 year old Ardbeg mind)! Theses will not hang about.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Natural deep amber with mahogany depth and a warm copper-red halo.
Nose
Opulent sherry aroma of dried figs, raisins and plums, draped in toffee and burnt sugar. Dark chocolate and cocoa weave through toasted oak, while cinnamon, clove and nutmeg sparkle. Subtle leather and cigar-box notes add depth, yielding a velvety, richly layered nose befitting a 25-year Mortlach.
Palate
Silky and generously sherried, this Mortlach coats the tongue with dark cherry, fig and raisin, gilded by treacle and orange zest. Cocoa and espresso deepen the middle, while cinnamon, nutmeg and clove spice weave through. The finish is long, warm and velvety, with polished oak and refined sherry sweetness lingering gracefully.
Finish
Long, luxurious finish that settles into a warm, boozy glow. Dark cherry and fig linger, mingling with cocoa, walnut and espresso from the sherry cask, while cinnamon and clove thread through the velvet tannins, leaving a whisper of oak and refined sweetness that lingers gracefully.
