Millburn (silent) Rare Malts Selection Single Malt Scotch Whisky 18 Year Old · 1975 Vintage
Out of stock
This particular Rare Malts release was never originally released with a box.
A Millburn single malt released as part of the Rare Malts Selection, this 18 year old was distilled in 1975 and bottled in 1993 at a natural cask strength of 58.9% ABV after maturation in oak. Millburn, one of the former Inverness distilleries, closed in 1985 and was later demolished, making official bottlings increasingly scarce.
The Rare Malts series was known for presenting whiskies in a powerful, unfiltered style, often highlighting distillery character rarely seen in standard releases. Oak maturation supports Millburn’s Highland style, typically showing malty richness, light fruit and gentle spice, with the higher strength giving a fuller texture and concentrated flavour.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, glistening amber with a warm copper glow and a hint of mahogany at the rim.
Nose
Opulent, malt-forward aroma with bold oak and vanilla, unfolding into dried-fruit richness. Pear and apple notes mingle with orange zest, while a whisper of spice and a subtle sherry warmth deepen the bouquet. At natural cask strength, the aroma is muscular yet elegant, a quintessential Highland malt poised for exploration.
Palate
At cask strength, a full, velvety palate of malty richness with orchard fruit and vanilla cream. Dried fruit threads unfold with gentle spice—clove and white pepper—woven through toasted oak. Opulent, resinous texture coats the mouth, delivering a long, warming finish of malt, fruit, and sweet oak.
Finish
Long, warming finish of oak-matured malt, with delicate fruit notes and a whisper of spice. At cask strength the warmth lingers, evolving into a resinous, oaken aftertaste that slowly fades into silence.
