Linkwood Flora & Fauna 1st Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 Year Old
Out of stock
Flora and Fauna, nicknamed by the late whisky writer, Michael Jackson, was a themed series of distillery only single malt whisky releases. Each distillery was given a particular creature as its symbol, which is elegantly displayed on each bottle's beautiful label.
Gradually as distilleries were commercialised, closed or sold, the range of Flora and Fauna contracted, leaving these select remaining bottles collectable. Most often blended, whisky from each of these distilleries is rarely bottled as single malt, making each bottle from this collection even more rare.
Very rare to find the Flora and Fauna bottling Of Linkwood with the Wooden box but packaging aside this is one of the gems of the series and one of the distilleries that deserves to better known in the Diageo owned group.
One of my favourite Speyside malts and with very few modern official bottles available this release is becoming very desirable for lovers of an old fashioned style of grassy, oily and spicy Speyside malt.
Again highly prized for blending with a lot of its output destined for the famous Johnnie Walker and White Horse blends.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Bright gold with warm honey tones and a soft amber glow.
Nose
Fresh-cut grass and barley rise from the glass, brightened by lemon zest and pear. An oily, waxy overlay carries vanilla and a touch of spice, while gentle oak hints at sherry-influenced sweetness. Clean, refined and unmistakably Speyside, with green, inviting aromas for a slow, mindful sip.
Palate
Grassy and refined, the palate unfolds with an oily, waxy mouthfeel that glides across the tongue. Citrus zest, green apple and delicate orchard fruit illuminate a gentle barley sweetness, while white pepper, nutmeg and allspice kindle a poised spice that lingers with polished oak and almond in a clean, enduring finish.
Finish
Medium-long and elegantly grassy, the finish coats with a soft, oily warmth. Green herb and honeyed vanilla melt into cinnamon and clove, with a citrus zest lift. Subtle oak and a whisper of sherry fruit linger, echoing Linkwood’s refined Speyside character.
