A highly collectable 1981 release of The Macallan 18 Year Old, distilled in 1963 and bottled at 43% ABV. Matured in sherry oak casks, this vintage miniature represents the rich, traditional style that established The Macallan’s reputation for sherry-matured single malt whisky.

Presented with the classic period Macallan-Glenlivet label and prominently displaying the 1963 vintage, this is an excellent example of an early Macallan bottling and a particularly desirable addition for collectors of vintage whisky miniatures, historic Macallan releases and older Speyside single malts.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
