Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep copper-amber with a burnished chestnut glow and a whisper of ruby at the edge, enriched by sherry cask maturation.
Nose
Bold peat dominates the nose—smoked barley, medicinal iodine, and coastal brine mingle with ash and char. A mineral, seafaring core underpins a fierce, clean potency that speaks to the cask-strength Islay fire.
Palate
Intense, peaty backbone at cask strength coats the palate with medicinal smoke. Briny iodine and sea-salt mingle with mineral, maritime notes, while ash and peppery spice pace the burn. Very little sweetness keeps the finish dry and assertive, the 57.8% ABV delivering long warmth and a smoky, saline aftertaste.
Finish
Long, unapologetic peat smoke and medicinal iodine extend through the finish, a maritime, ash-dusted warmth that clings to the tongue. Saline brine and cracked black pepper braid with oak tannins, leaving a dry, lingering ember of smoky complexity with almost no fruit sweetness.
