Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-bronze highlights and a touch of burnished mahogany.
Nose
Powerful peat and medicinal iodine rise first, carried on a marine breeze of salt and ash. Oloroso-tinged dark fruit—fig, raisin—and velvety vanilla from American oak mingle with a touch of cocoa. Subtle citrus zest and spice brighten the mid-palate, leaving a refined, lingering warmth that speaks to Islay shores and 25 years in cask strength.
Palate
A dramatic eruption of peat smoke and medicinal iodine, framed by sea-salt brightness. Rich vanilla and spice from the American oak meet decadent Oloroso warmth, delivering dark fruit compote, fig, raisin and toffee. The texture is full and velvety, coating with cask-strength intensity, then a long, briny finish with cocoa, leather and a final kiss of smoke.
Finish
An enduring, smoky finish that clings to the palate with medicinal peat, sea salt and cracked pepper, slowly yielding to rich Oloroso sweetness. The cask-strength warmth lingers with resinous oak-spice, touches of dried fruit and vanilla, a bold, refined echo of Laphroaig's peat-forward, sherry-influenced character.
