Every year since 2001, Diageo have released a series of Special Releases featuring rare, limited edition whiskies from some of Scotland’s finest distilleries. The 2021 Special Releases are the 20th set in this highly collectable series, and includes 8 Single Malt whiskies, bottled at cask strength, and released in limited quantities. The 2021 series has been titled “Legends Untold” and features striking illustrations and design work from digital illustrator Ken Taylor.
A generously rich and complex Lagavulin with a smouldering intensity of bold, sherried fruits and pungent peat smoke. Intense and complex on both the nose and palate, with aromas and flavours of heady dried fruits, baked fig, oak, and bonfires by the sea. Full bodied and well rounded, this exceptional, well aged Lagavulin offers a harmonious medley of sweet, fruity, and savoury flavours, enveloped in a light haze of peat smoke.

Smouldering peat delivers an immediate warmth, intertwined with bold sherried fruits. On the nose, heady dried fruits and baked fig unfold over oak, with maritime notes of bonfire by the sea. A full, intricate, slightly sweet-savoury aroma, cloaked in a delicate peat haze.
Palate
Generously rich and full-bodied, with a smouldering intensity of sherried fruits and peat smoke. Dried fruits, baked fig and oak unfold into savory coastal notes, while bonfires by the sea weave through a refined, smoky sweetness.
Finish
Long, luxurious finish where peat smoke lingers like a sea breeze, layered with sherried fig and dried fruit. Oak warmth coats the palate as the sweetness fades into a saline coastal echo, leaving a refined, lingering smokiness that closes with depth and grace.
