Named after the famously dark, peaty loch overlooked by the distillery, the annual Loch Gorm limited edition is Kilchomans only regular expression matured entirely in oloroso sherry casks.
Loch Gorm is exclusively matured in oloroso sherry casks from the renowned bodega, Jose Miguel Martin. It is common for distilleries to use a variety of sherry producers but for our consistent quality and character, it is vital that we source them all from just one bodega. We select a combination of sherry butts and hogsheads from Jose Miguel Martin that provides two separate styles of maturation.
These ex-oloroso sherry casks impart a combination of heavy sherry notes, spicy dark chocolate, rich fruits and burnt sugar. This balances beautifully with the Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus fruits found within our farm crafted spirit.

Colour
Deep, dusky amber with mahogany edges and a coppery, sunset glow.
Nose
Dark, lush sherry aroma dominates from the ex-oloroso casks: burnt sugar, toffee, and fig with prune notes. Spicy dark chocolate threads through velvety fruit, while Kilchoman’s peat lends a smoky edge. Bright citrus zest and a hint of coastal salt lift the bouquet, finishing with ember-warm spice that hints at depth, balance, and Islay character.
Palate
Silky, full-bodied mouthfeel with lacquered sherry sweetness: burnt sugar, fig, prune and dark chocolate weave with Kilchoman’s peat. Ripe citrus zest and orange oils cut the richness, while spice notes—cinnamon and clove—build warmth. The peat remains nuanced, smoke curling through the mid-palate, finishing long, drying, and richly fruity.
Finish
Long and peaty, the finish is rich with burnt sugar and oloroso sherry, weaving dark chocolate and dried fruits with bright citrus zest. Peat smoke persists softly into a warm, resinous finale, leaving a lingering, elegant sweetness and a final wink of oak.
