One of the great New World Single Malts. Matured in American oak wine barrels that have been used to mature both red and white wines, this Taiwanese Single Malt from the Kavalan Solist series has won a plethora of awards.Rich vanilla and caramelised sugars on the nose with dark chocolate, mango, lemon and kiwi. The palate is rich and layered and complex with a long and lingering finish. This is a dense, unctuous whisky that has incredibly depth of flavour and length.

A limited edition version of the award winning Whisky which is packaged in a beautiful Leather effect case.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep golden amber with a sun-warmed honey glow and coppery edges.

Nose

Rich vanilla and caramelised sugars lead, followed by dark chocolate, mango, lemon and kiwi—an opulent, tropical-fruited bouquet that hints at the wine-barrel maturation and a supple sweetness.

Palate

On the palate it is rich and layered, a dense, unctuous texture carrying vanilla and caramel from the wine-barrel maturation, tempered by dark chocolate and tropical notes of mango, with citrusy hints of lemon and kiwi. Silky and full-bodied, it unfolds with depth, spice and oak, finishing long and lingering with extraordinary length.

Finish

Long, luxurious finish that lingers with velvety vanilla and caramel, interwoven with dark chocolate and a whisper of citrus zest. Rich, warming and unctuous, it slowly fades to lingering oak and subtle fruit sweetness, leaving a refined, lasting impression.

Kavalan was founded in Yilan County in 2005 by King Car Group and is widely regarded as Taiwan’s first whisky distillery. The name comes from the old name of Yilan and the indigenous Kavalan people. Its first bottling, Kavalan Classic, was released in 2008, and the Solist range followed in 2009.
