Cask Strength Single Cask Distillery Bottling

Amontillado is an exquisite dry sherry that is darker than Fino and lighter than Oloroso, maturing under a cap of flor and then exposed to the air for further oxidation. Ageing Kavalan's new-make spirit in Amontillado sherry casks, produces aromas of toasted almond, hazelnut and caramel with an elegant and long finish.

Tasting Notes

Nose

An enveloping, multi-layered aroma of rich fruit and sweetness: dried figs and sweet-sour plum, lifted by fresh peony, finishing with hazelnut and almond, a touch of toffee and a soft hint of oak.

Palate

Notes of cherry infused with baked apple pie, coffee and cinnamon with caramel aromas. A long and elegant finish intertwined with nuttiness and spicy pepper.

Finish

We suggest drinking Kavalan Solist Amontillado Cask neat. It is also perfect with ice cream.

Kavalan was founded in Yilan County in 2005 by King Car Group and is widely regarded as Taiwan’s first whisky distillery. The name comes from the old name of Yilan and the indigenous Kavalan people. Its first bottling, Kavalan Classic, was released in 2008, and the Solist range followed in 2009.
