(dal-YOO-in) A Gaelic word meaning “The Green Vale”, Dailuaine distillery stands between the River Spey and the foot of Ben Rinnes, the tallest peak in Speyside. Dailuaine was founded in 1851 by William Mackenzie near Carron in Speyside, with production beginning in 1852. After Mackenzie’s death, the distillery was leased to Aberlour banker James Fleming, and that early change in control helped drive the distillery’s expansion in the decades that followed.
