This is a fine peated Malt from the Caol Ila Distillery, the powerhouse of Whisky production on the Isle of Islay. A youthful, vibrant and boisterous six year old spirit was filled into French Oak casks, previously used for maturing rich and fruity Cognac. The slow-grown French oak, with its refined, silky tannins, has added sophistication to this Islay Malt’s peated style.
Aromas of hickory smoke, apple peel and coastal notes on the nose. There is an oiliness to the texture, with flavours of sweet peat, ginger and apple. The finish is clean and fresh with a hint of salted caramel.
