Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep coppery-amber with ruby-red undertones.
Nose
Peat smoke and sea spray mingle with a medicinal Islay lift. From the Premier Cru Bordeaux cask, blackberry, cherry and plum flood the nose, softened by vanilla, cocoa and warm spice. Oak tannins frame leather notes, while a delicate maritime mineral threads through. Un-chill filtered and wine-kissed, it offers a bold aromatic lure that hints at cask strength and Islay soul.
Palate
On the palate, Caol Ila’s peat and coastal salt meet Bordeaux red-fruit richness: blackberry, plum and a hint of cherry. Full, velvety and richly textured, with cocoa, vanilla-spiced oak and a gentle tannic bite. The wine-influenced sweetness blends with smoky, saline balance for a long, warming mouthfeel.
Finish
Long and contemplative, the finish threads Bordeaux red-wine maturity through Caol Ila’s coastal peat. Dark cherry, plum and cocoa ebb and flow with refined tannins, touched by vanilla and spice from the cask. A saline iodine note and smoke cling to the tongue, slowly fading into a warming, resinous afterglow that lingers inviting another sip.
