Distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2022 at 45% ABV, this 13-year-old Caol Ila was released by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Connoisseurs Choice – Wood Finished series. The whisky was initially matured in refill bourbon barrels before spending around two years finishing in Sassicaia wine casks, a prestigious Super-Tuscan red wine, before bottling. The batch yielded 3,550 bottles.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark Gold.
Nose
Dried figs with sweet cured meats and cinnamon spice, while fudge and milk chocolate notes lead to a rich, lingering smoke.
Palate
Redcurrant gives way to subtle black peper. Red apple comes to the fore alongside lemon peel and toasted oak.
Finish
Medium bodied with pepper, forest fruits and lingering smoke.
