The Exploration series focuses on single-cask releases with quality and accessibility in mind. This range encourages customers to explore the whisky regions that might otherwise have been inaccessible. By not disclosing individual distilleries, Claxton’s can release casks with a great profile but accessible to the broader market.

Colour
Golden amber with sunlit honey tones and a warm bronze edge.
Nose
Coastal peat smoke and sea-salt lift the nose, mingling with bright citrus zest and vanilla from the bourbon cask. Subtle iodine and medicinal hints ride a creamy, oaky backbone, finished with touches of toasted sugar and smoke.
Palate
Peaty and coastal, with iodine and sea-salt notes riding along bright lemon zest. Bourbon cask gives vanilla pastry, caramel, and a touch of coconut that flits through the smoke. Rich, silky mouthfeel, mineral backbone, and a long, warming finish of oak, pepper, and lingering maritime peat.
Finish
Long, smoky finish with coastal brine and vanilla-glazed oak. Bourbon-cask influence adds creamy sweetness—caramel, vanilla and a touch of coconut—while the Islay peat lingers, finishing with a bright maritime edge.
