Tasting Notes

Nose

Coastal sea air and briny minerality rise with a rich sherried perfume: dark plum, raisin and fig mingle with orange zest. Toasted oak, vanilla and caramel thread through almond and cocoa nibs, while a subtle spice completes the bouquet. A whisper of salt lingers, sealing the maritime character.

Palate

Silky and refined on the palate, it opens with dark berry, orange zest and toffee, layered over cocoa and dried fruit from sherry cask aging. Almond, spice and vanilla weave through a rich, maritime frame, then a long, warming finish of oak and a hint of brine.

Bruichladdich
(brook-LADDIE) Bruichladdich distillery is the home of four different malts: the unpeated Bruichladdich, the heavily peated Port Charlotte, the even more peated (and rarely seen) Lochindaal and the super heavily peated Octomore. The distillery was built in 1881 by the Harvey Brothers and at the time it was viewed as a very modern establishment.  It is situated in The Rhinns, in the west of the island, overlooking Loch Indaal. It ran under a succession of different owners including Whyte and Mackay and Murray McDavid before being purchased by Remy Cointreau in 2012.
