A distillery-exclusive release for Feis Ile 2016 from Bruichladdich, this PHD 135 was distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2016 at 50% ABV. Created to mark the distillery’s 135th anniversary, it was matured for 14 years in a combination of first fill bourbon, ex-sherry and French wine casks before receiving a final finish in virgin oak. Lightly peated at distillation, it was released in a limited outturn of 1,881 numbered bottles.
The multi-cask maturation and virgin oak finish add depth and structure to Bruichladdich’s clean, spirit-forward style. The profile combines fresh malt character with layered fruit, vanilla and oak-led spice, shaped by the diverse wood types while retaining the distillery’s distinctive coastal identity.

Fresh malt forms the backbone, with bright orchard and citrus notes unfolding under vanilla and layered oak-spice from a tapestry of bourbon, sherry and virgin casks. A whisper of peat and coastal salinity keeps it vibrant, while the multi-cask lineage lends resinous spice and a polished, lingering sweetness.
Finish
Long, coastal finish of salted caramel and vanilla carried by delicate oak spice. Sherry and French wine casks add dried fruit and depth, while virgin oak lends creamy vanilla, cinnamon and a touch of smoke.
