Glenmorangie were one of the first distilleries to experiment with cask finishing and this Port wood finish from the 1990's is very different to the current 12 year old "Quinta Ruban" release.
A more meaty/savoury offering than the Quinta Ruban but still with plenty of bright red berry spiced fruits.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Copper-amber with ruby-red highlights and a deep mahogany undertone.
Nose
Strawberry shortbread, red berries dusted with icing sugar, bramble jelly, earthier fruit licorice notes, sweet cured ham, raspberry coulis and pink vanilla wafers.
Palate
On the palate, red cherry and fruity liquorice mingle with cranberry and red jelly, framed by fragrant herbs and spicy wood. Malty with earthy and leathery notes, like jam on brown bread, punctuated by crunchy tannins that lend savory grip and a lingering, warming finish.
Finish
Red berry jam lingers with malty bread and strawberry shortbread, spiced by aromatic wood. It dries into herbal, earthy tannins with a savory whisper of honey-glazed Christmas ham.
