About Glendullan
(GLEN-dull-an) Glendullan was founded in 1897 by William Williams in Dufftown, and Diageo notes that it was the seventh distillery built in the town, which ties in with the old line that Dufftown stood on “seven stills.” The distillery takes its name from the Dullan Water, and its early history was shaped more by blending than by a large single malt presence, with Williams later merging into Greenlees Brothers before the business was absorbed into DCL in 1925.
A second Glendullan distillery was built next door in 1972, and the two sites ran side by side until the original plant was closed in 1985. In more recent years, Glendullan has been seen most often through The Singleton, with The Singleton brand expanding to include Glendullan for the North American market after its wider relaunch in the late 2000s.
