The first ever That Boutique-y whisky company release of one of Speyside's lesser known distilleries and with most production destined for blends and the Singleton brand of single malts it is a rare delight to find a small batch indie bottling released at cask strength.

Overall: A pleasantly complex effort from Glendullan. Yum.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with sunlit honey hues and a warm copper glow.

Nose

Honeysuckle opens to a floral, softly sweet bouquet, with Granny Smith apples, grassy malt and earthy vanilla lending depth.

Palate

Winter spices bring aromatic heat to acacia honey and toffee pennies, balanced by tannic oak. With time, a hint of raspberry emerges, inviting a warm, lingering finish.

Finish

A bright orange note lingers, lightly seasoned with black pepper.

Glendullan
(GLEN-dull-an) Glendullan was founded in 1897 by William Williams in Dufftown, and Diageo notes that it was the seventh distillery built in the town, which ties in with the old line that Dufftown stood on “seven stills.” The distillery takes its name from the Dullan Water, and its early history was shaped more by blending than by a large single malt presence, with Williams later merging into Greenlees Brothers before the business was absorbed into DCL in 1925.
