Arran The Explorers Series Volume 1 - Brodick Bay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 20 Year Old
Out of stock
A new single malt release from The Arran distillery for summer 2018 called Brodick Bay, part of its new limited edition Explorers Series, which pays homage to the island's natural charms.
A 20-year-old single malt, Brodick Bay has been matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and ex-Sherry hogsheads before being finished in oloroso Sherry butts from Bodegas Tradición in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
Bottled at a cask strength of 49.8% abv, the whisky is said to contain notes of ‘creamy toffee’ and ‘treacle-laced fudge’, resulting in ‘a memorable sweetness with rich layers of intense fruit’.
Brodick Bay is named for the picturesque bay on Arran’s east coast, located around 12 miles from the Isle of Arran distillery at Lochranza, and overlooked by Arran’s tallest mountain, Goatfell.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with warm copper highlights and a tawny, mahogany edge.
Nose
Coastal and luxurious, this nose opens with creamy toffee and treacle-laced fudge, spilling into dark dried fruit, orange zest and vanilla. Oloroso sherry adds raisin, fig and cocoa, while a subtle sea-breeze and almond from the oak lend a poised, saline lift.
Palate
Silky and bold on the palate, delivering creamy toffee and treacle-laced fudge, a lush sweetness that coats the tongue. Rich dried-fruit notes ride a velvety sherry warmth from the oloroso finish, with vanilla-bourbon depth and a long, fruit-forward conclusion supported by oak.
Finish
Long, velvety finish: creamy toffee and treacle linger, giving way to rich dried fruit and dark chocolate. Sherry influence threads through with subtle oak spice, leaving a polished, warm sweetness that slowly fades.
