A limited release of a 21 year old from stock pre-dating the Glenmorangie take over is always going to cause a Corryvreckan of excitement and i was very excited to sample this 100% Ex-Bourbon cask aged offering with natural colour and non chill filtered.
The years have been kind to this Ardbeg with the peat smoke becoming more in unison with the fruit and spice revealing a more elegant and less medicinal style for this distillery.

Colour
Natural golden amber with sunlit honey hues.
Nose
Creamy lime curd with fresh herbs, elderflower cordial, white pepper, and sooty ash smoke, freshly cut grass by the coast, and salty ozone notes.
Palate
Spicy green bell peppers, salted lime, menthol, floral/grassy/gorse-like notes, sooty vanilla & white pepper.
Finish
Very clean, fresh and elegant, with a delicate balance of salty coastal notes, lime curd, and herbaceous, vegetal hints, finishing with a whisper of sooty white‑ash peat.
