We really really love Rosebank here at HTFW, and so do Gordon and Macphail because they always seem to pull the best casks out of the woodwork and bottle them at exactly the right time.

An elegant Lowland single malt that as i write this is about to be re-opened after 27 years of closure and seemingly gone forever, happy days indeed! but in the meantime enjoy this Indie release of a classic fresh and grassy Lowland while we wait.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Pale straw gold with a delicate sunlit glow.

Nose

Herb gardens open to a waxy chorus of orchard fruits, with pear frangipane and apricot-glazed tarte tatin. Fresh barley and sugared almonds mingle with mixed peel, crowned by lemon thyme curd.

Palate

Curd-like citrus on the palate, framed by waxy orchard fruits, apricot glaze and lemon thyme. Marzipan sweetness, vanilla sponge cake and apple bonbons give way to a restrained late-spice echo.

Finish

Vermouth-kissed and citrus-bright, the finish lingers with herbal nuance, waxy orchard fruits and vanilla, a delicate dusting of pick-and-mix spice and custard powder.

(Rose-BANK) Famous for very high quality, triple distilled malt, Rosebank Distillery can be found on the banks of the Forth and Clyde canal, between Edinburgh and Glasgow. With the exception of war time closures, Rosebank distilled until 1993 when it was closed, seemingly for good. Naturally over time bottlings have become scarce.
