An extremely highly rated edition of Port Ellen owing to the balance shown by the whisky.
Despite the age there's a harmonious marriage of sweetness with the peat, salt and smoke. The palate is silky and viscous with citrus anf herbal notes moving into the smokier and heavier elemnr=ts. The finish is drying and smouldering.

Colour
Deep, honeyed amber with copper-gold sheen and a hint of mahogany.
Nose
A maritime, peaty aroma with sea-salt and smoke at the fore, tempered by subtle sweetness. Citrus zest and herbal notes lift the nose, while sherry-cask warmth adds dried-fruit depth and a touch of spice, all underscored by a refined, waxy elegance.
Palate
Silky, viscous on the palate, with a citrus zest and herbal lift that segues into peat, sea salt and smoke. The sweetness cushions the smoke, keeping it buoyant yet balanced as the edge builds into a heavier, smoky core. The texture coats deeply, leaving a persistent, dry-smouldering impression.
Finish
Drying and smouldering to the very end, the finish lingers like embers. Peat, salt and a whisper of sweetness cling to the palate, elevating the smoke into a refined, mineral drift that slowly fades to a warm, resinous glow.
