"Unabashed peat on the nose, with black pepper, treacle toffee and clams. Sweet and fruity in the mouth with a hint of Bourbon, while the finish is smoky and warming."
An Ataireachd Ard translates as the surge of the sea and was released in 2011
Bruichladdich almost never released this 9 year old, but thankfully they did (but only 6000 bottles), this is the final step in the journey towards 2012's destination the 10 year old.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-gold flashes and a mahogany tint.
Nose
Unabashed peat dominates the nose, with black pepper and treacle toffee, lifted by a briny, clam-shell sea-air that hints at Islay’s coastal heartbeat.
Palate
Full, oily delivery of bold peat with black pepper and treacle-toffee sweetness. Ripe fruit notes mingle with a Bourbon vanilla undercurrent, lending warmth and depth to the mouthfeel. The mid-palate remains fruity and slightly creamy, leading to a long, smoky, warming finish with lingering pepper and maritime hints.
Finish
Long, smoke-drenched finish that wraps the palate in peat warmth. A fleeting sweetness of treacle toffee lingers before coastal smoke fades to a comforting, warming glow.
