Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber-gold with coppery glints and a hint of mahogany, a warm, sherry-kissed hue that glows with depth.
Nose
Intense peat smoke and iodine rise from the glass, edged by coastal brine and ash. Sherry cask influence wraps dark fruit—raisin, plum, fig—with cocoa, treacle and vanilla from toasted oak. Subtle spice and medicinal hints linger, delivering a bold, coastal Islay nose with Jim McEwan’s signature character.
Palate
Powerful, oily palate of charcoal smoke and medicinal peat, edged by a saline coastal breeze. Rich sherried sweetness emerges—dark raisins, fig, cocoa, and a touch of treacle—balancing embers with ripe fruit and vanilla. Full-bodied and viscous, it coats the tongue with peppery spice and polished oak, finishing long with smoke, salt, and cocoa.
Finish
Powerfully lingering, this finish blooms with coastal peat and barrel-wrought warmth. Peat smoke threads with sherry sweetness, unveiling dried fig, raisin and dark chocolate on the afterglow. A peppery spice tail lingers, with hints of sea salt and oak, tapering to a resinous, ember-like finish.
