This new, limited release bottling of Port Askaig is a vatting of whiskies distilled in 2006 and 2007, bottled after more than 12 years maturation in ex-Bourbon hogsheads. There are no prizes for guessing the "secret" distillery - it is located close to the village of Port Askaig on the North East coast of Islay. This multi-faceted single malt displays a perfect balance of sweetness and smoke. Un-chill filtered and bottled at natural cask strength.

Colour
Bright golden amber with sunlit honey highlights.
Nose
The smokiness of peated malt, fresh from the kiln, melds with zesty lemon oil and a sea-breeze lift, while a maritime minerality drifts in.
Palate
Bright lemon sherbet and key lime pie mingle with the sweetness of stone fruits, while sooty hearth smoke swirls through the mid-palate. A toffee-led sweetness underpins the experience, lending a glossy, lingering balance.
Finish
Rich, barbecued Persian black lemon and dried mint linger, carried by fresh turf, with a final whisper of smoked paprika.
