Tasting Notes
Colour
Burnished amber with coppery highlights and a touch of mahogany.
Nose
Salty sea air and sun-warmed oak greet the nose, with zesty citrus, ripe pear, and honeyed sweetness. Sherry richness unfolds as dried fruit, almonds, and toffee lace through the malt, while a whisper of vanilla and spice adds depth—a refined, coastal perfume that hints at cocoa and old wood.
Palate
Concentrated and warming, this sherry-cask Old Pulteney coats the palate with an oily, luxurious texture. Dried fruits – raisin, fig, prune – mingle with dark chocolate, treacle and vanilla, while orange zest lifts the sweetness. A maritime saltiness threads through the richness, with ginger-spice and pepper delivering a long, rousing finish at cask strength.
Finish
Long, luxurious finish that lingers with sherried sweetness, a maritime seasoning of salt and sea spray, entwined with dark chocolate and dried fig. Spices rise gently, fading into toasted oak for a warm, lingering coastal echo.
