Mosstowie (Silent) G&M 125th Anniversary Release - Single Cask #20323 Whisky 40 Year Old · 1979 Vintage
Out of stock
Since 1895, Gordon & MacPhail has been driven by a simple mission: to create single malt Scotch whisky of exceptional quality. Through four generations of family ownership, the company has matched spirit from over 100 Scottish distilleries to its own casks, creating exceptional whiskies found nowhere else in the world. To celebrate this landmark chapter in Gordon & MacPhail’s rich history, four commemorative whiskies will be released in 2020.
To mark this special anniversary, casks have been selected casks from distilleries that are closed, or from makes with stills no longer in existence. All these whiskies are consigned to history and Gordon and Macphail are now releasing their very last stocks from each. Never again will these rare whiskies be bottled under the Gordon and MacPhail name.
Distilled at Miltonduff Distillery, Mosstowie was one of only a handful of spirits to be made using a Lomond Still. The Lomond stills allowed the lyne arm position to be changed, giving varying levels of reflux and differing heaviness to the spirit. Mainly used in blended whisky, the Lomond stills were removed in 1981, resulting in the brand no longer being produced after that date. This release is from the last cask of Mosstowie to have matured in Gordon & MacPhail's famous warehouse.
