Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with bronze-copper highlights and a subtle mahogany depth.
Nose
A regal sherry-driven bouquet opens in aroma: dark plums and raisins, fig and date, cloaked in honeyed toffee and velvety oak. Beneath, malt, leather and tobacco weave with spice—cinnamon, clove, nutmeg—while cedar and a hint of orange peel lift the fragrance. Rich, refined, and unmistakably aged.
Palate
Silky, sherried palate with rich dried figs and plums, cloaked in dark chocolate and treacle. Velvet fruit and spice—vanilla and nutmeg—over refined oak, with a hint of tobacco. At 43%, the balance stays poised as the finish unfolds long and elegant, leaving leather and coffee to linger in a stately, multi-layered Mortlach.
Finish
An opulent, lingering finish: dark fruit and fig meet cocoa and a touch of treacle, lit by gentle sherry sweetness. Spices—clove and nutmeg—curl through the velvet oak, with a subtle espresso note. Warmth remains long and refined, finishing in a bright orange zest whisper.
