Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich golden amber with a warm copper glow and mahogany undertones.
Nose
Rice pudding with oily herbal notes opens to a creamy, malty bouquet. Shortbread and candied fruit mingle with walnut and coffee from sherry casks, while waxy orchard fruit and a dash of dry grass and barley add depth.
Palate
Malty, peppery barley forms the spine, supported by an oily, herbal mouthfeel. Sugared shortbread pairs with ripe pear and green apple, while rich sultana and brown bread with aromatic honey deepen the sweetness. Orange rind adds zest, finishing with a playful fizz of sour sweets akin to American hard gums or wine gums.
Finish
Yellow plums and waxy orchard fruit linger with fresh barley and boiled sweets, while peppery spice threads through notes of shortbread and biscuity sweetness. Lime marmalade and sultana toast rise against vanillin oak, finishing with a whisper of creamy coffee.
