Bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Connoisseurs Choice range, this 1991 Littlemill comes from cask #549 and was matured in a refill American oak hogshead before being bottled in 2023 at 31 years old. With an outturn of 226 bottles and a strength of 44.5% ABV, it is a notably mature release from one of Scotland’s lost Lowland distilleries.
Littlemill fell silent in 1994, was dismantled in 1997, and the remaining buildings were later destroyed by fire in 2004, which gives bottlings like this extra historical interest for collectors and drinkers alike. In this case, the refill cask keeps the oak influence measured, allowing more of Littlemill’s lighter, fruit-led character to come through with clarity rather than being dominated by wood.

Colour

Sweet citrus flavours mingle with honeysuckle and garden mint as dried pineapple develops, balanced by charred oak and a touch of soft black pepper.
Finish
A graceful, medium-length finish that lingers with grapefruit zest and peanut notes, leaving a clean citrus glow.
