Laphroaig 10 year old cask strength has all the classic character of the distillery. Iodine, sea salt, pepper, and of course peat smoke. Look past this and you'll find fruit a plenty (with citrus and stone fruits particularly coming to the fore with a touch of water). There's also sweet vanilla and butterscotch from the oak which gives this expression a beautiful texture and rich depth of flavour.
Matured in refill American oak casks and bottled at the powerful ABV of 56.8%.
Often described as the bottling that comes closest to the Laphroaig style of old, this is Laphroaig as it should be.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with coppery-gold highlights and a rich, honeyed bronze sheen.
Nose
Iodine, sea salt and pepper ride a wave of peat smoke. With a splash of water, citrus zest and stone fruits unfold, while vanilla and butterscotch from the oak add sweetness and depth to a bold, unmistakable Laphroaig nose.
Palate
Powerful, coastal, peaty on the palate, with iodine, sea salt and pepper lifting the smoke. Bright citrus and stone fruits emerge with a touch of water, while vanilla and butterscotch from the oak lend a creamy, textured richness. Full-bodied, emphatic and lingering, finishing with warming depth.
Finish
Long, maritime and powerfully peaty, with iodine and sea-salt that linger into a peppery warmth. Vanilla and butterscotch echo from the oak as citrus and stone-fruit fade, leaving a rich, textured finish threaded with smoke and a lingering coastal sweetness.
