Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with burnished copper and mahogany undertones, a smoky, molten-gold glow.
Nose
The immediate aromas are slightly more medicinal than smoky, with hints of carbolic soap and soothing rub that soon mingle with aromatic wood smoke from a driftwood bonfire on the beach. As the intense, herbal smoke takes hold, a savoury note drifts through it, suggesting barbecued pork. A drop of water lightens the intensity, adding maritime and darkly fruity notes, making the smokiness even more aromatic.
Palate
Naturally robust, the texture is creamy-smooth and mouth-filling, with swirling flavors that begin sweet and citrus-like, then a touch of salt, before juicy plum emerges amid a progressively smoky, lip-tingling finish. A drop of water nudges it toward greater sweetness and smokiness.
Finish
Long, salty and very smoky, with a hint of light meatiness in a lingering, mouth-cooling finish. Drying, it leaves a comforting warmth on the palate.
