Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2013 Edition Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 5 Year Old · 2007 Vintage
Out of stock
The first release of what Kilchoman say is going to be a regular Sherry cask expression. This example has had a full five years in Oloroso casks and then additional Sherry cask finishing to make sure it's just right.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, dark amber with copper glow and mahogany depth.
Nose
Peat smoke dances with rich oloroso, lifting a plush bouquet of dark cherry, fig and prune, brightened by orange zest. Toasted almond, cocoa and caramel weave through the sweetness, while a saline hint of Islay sea breeze lingers in the background.
Palate
Silky, full-bodied palate of peat smoke and Oloroso sweetness. Dark fruit notes of raisin, fig and black cherry mingle with cocoa, leather and a touch of spice. Oak-derived vanilla and nutmeg weave through, with a faint maritime salt nuance. The finish is long and warming, peat and sherry lingering, evolving with each sip.
Finish
Long, opulent finish where rich sherry sweetness lingers with peated warmth. Dried fig, orange zest and cocoa drift over toasted oak, while a maritime hint keeps the palate alert. Spiced leather and a final whisper of smoke frame the end, slowly fading into warm, resinous peat.
