Port is a Portuguese fortified wine that is robust and sweet with a fuller and richer body. It is therefore usually served as a dessert wine or digestif. Kavalan Solist Port Cask is fully matured in Portuguese Port barriques under the subtropical climate to create the multiple fruity flavours such as plum, blueberry, blackberry and strawberry just to name a few, with chocolate as the main background note.
A big, bold and complex Port cask influenced single malt from this multi award winning distillery, this is not shy in the flavour department and this is another stunning addition to the Solist range of single cask releases.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep copper-amber with rich ruby highlights and a warm mahogany edge.
Nose
Pink grapefruit sparks with tinned strawberries, woven with well-aged balsamic, cranberry sauce and red cherry jam. Deep polished oak frames stewed black plums, with a touch of charred tangerine rind and pink wafers.
Palate
Big, spicy delivery of stewed red and black fruit, with a grape-skin-dry grip mid-palate and crunchy tannins echoing brambly redcurrants. Mulled-wine spices mingle with pomegranate and orange segments steeped in port, finishing with peppery strawberry and clove.
Finish
Grapey and red-cherry notes lead into spiced berries, toasted vanilla and pink wafers. Pomegranate juice and crunchy cranberry linger, finished with a delicate dusting of rose Turkish delight fizzy spice.
