Tasting Notes
Colour
Dark amber-gold with luxurious mahogany depth and a coppery gleam.
Nose
Opulent sherry on the nose, saturated with dark fruit—fig, prune and dried cherry—lifted by orange zest and a veil of burnt sugar. Rich toffee and cocoa mingle with toasted almond, cinnamon and clove, while polished oak, leather and a touch of tobacco add depth. A faint resinous smoke hints at cask strength, inviting a warm, decadent first impression.
Palate
Opulent and powerful, this cask-strength Karuizawa floods the palate with dark cherry and dried fig, folded into rich plum and burnt sugar. Velvet-syrupy texture coats the mouth, while toasted oak, cocoa, and spiced notes of cinnamon and clove drive through. A warm, long finish reveals leather, coffee, and lingering sherry sweetness, leaving a refined, dignified warmth.
Finish
Long, decadent finish that lingers with warm sherry-soaked fruit and dark chocolate. Dried fig and raisin entwine with cinnamon, clove and black pepper, carried on a velvet oak backbone. Notes of espresso and candied orange peel fade slowly, leaving a resinous, gently charred warmth that clings to the palate.
