Out of stock
A single cask Hanyu from Ichiro’s Malt “Card Series,” this Queen of Hearts release was distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2006 after 16 years of maturation in a Cognac cask. Bottled at 54% ABV, the release was limited to 324 bottles from the now-closed Hanyu distillery.
Cognac cask maturation adds rich fruit, gentle spice and rounded sweetness to Hanyu’s characteristically elegant, lightly fruity spirit, complementing the distillery’s refined style with layered depth. As part of the highly sought-after Card Series, it represents one of the rare remaining expressions from this silent Japanese distillery.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep copper-amber with honey-gold highlights and a warm mahogany glow.
Nose
Opulent Cognac-cask aroma of ripe fruit—prune, fig, apricot with pear notes—woven with vanilla, caramel and a touch of oak. Gentle spice blooms: cinnamon and clove, accented by a subtle floral lift. Elegant, lightly fruity and refined, the bouquet hints at depth and rare finesse.
Palate
Opulent and silky, the palate unfurls with apricot, pear and fig, lifted by orange zest. Cognac cask maturation brings a rounded sweetness, vanilla and almond, with gentle spice—cinnamon and clove. At 54% it retains refined power, finishing long, warm and elegant, a layered, lightly fruity depth that stays true to Hanyu’s refined style.
Finish
Long and refined, the finish blooms with dark orchard fruits and candied citrus, braided with vanilla and soft spice. Cognac-cask maturation coats the palate in satin sweetness that slowly fades to polished oak, leaving a warm, fragrant echo of fruit and caramel, elegantly lingering.
