GlenAllachie 50th Anniversary Single Cask #2587 Whisky 28 Year Old · 1989 Vintage
In stock
One of the six-strong single cask single malt releases from the ‘new’ GlenAllachie. The capitalised ‘A’ in the middle of the name gives a clue to the distillery’s new owner: Billy Walker, previously of BenRiach (and indeed GlenDronach). Walker bought the distillery from Chivas Brothers last year and, in doing so, set about transforming GlenAllachie from a little-known distillery producing fillings for blends such as Passport and 100 Pipers, into a quality-oriented single malt in its own right.
A core range is set to launch in June but, while we wait for that, there is this initial release of six single cask single malts – spanning the years 1978 to 1991, with two each from 1989 and 1990 in the middle.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with coppery sheen and mahogany undertones.
Nose
Soft, shy at first, with sultana sweetness and bright citrus. The aroma broadens toward pomegranate molasses and a whisper of scented candles, then settles into a polished, evolving bouquet of dried orchard fruits, macadamia and orange peel.
Palate
A very soft start with a gentle mid-palate and a sense of evolving maturity. Waxy fruit broadens with water, revealing cocoa powder, subtle tannins, then cherry and cinnamon tea with a raisin lift.
Finish
Drying initially, then a wave of fruit notes—dried orchard fruits, raisin, cherry—emerging as cocoa-tinted tannins seep in. The finish invites patience, revealing a nuanced, fruit-forward warmth that lingers with quiet sophistication.
