A gloriously well-aged single cask GlenAllachie! Distilled all the way back in July 1989, and left in a single hogshead for nearly three decades. It was bottled in 2018, originally as a distillery exclusive, with an outturn of 236 bottles at an approachable 45.9% ABV. Lots of tropical spice, Christmas cake fruit and chocolate notes with this.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a mahogany edge, a sunset-glow in a glass.

Nose

Bananas, pineapple and sultanas rise in a tropical arc, draped in warm, sweet spices; hints of Christmas fruitcake and a gentle chocolate undertone complete the nose.

Palate

Toffee apples and mocha mingle with tropical pineapple, finishing in dark chocolate with a creamy, velvet mouthfeel.

Finish

Long and elegant, the finish drapes the palate in tropical spice, Christmas cake fruit and dark chocolate. Toffee apple and mocha linger, with pineapple and sultana casting their sweetness beneath a warm oak glow, fading to a refined, enduring warmth that invites the next sip.

(glen-AL-a-key) Built in 1967 near Aberlour, it spent much of its life producing whisky for blends rather than building a big name as a single malt in its own right. That changed in 2017, when Billy Walker, Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson bought the distillery and began reshaping it around a more flavour-led, hands-on vision.
