This 6-year-old Glasgow 1770 was matured in first fill ex-Bourbon casks for 5 years before a further 1 year and 9 months in Amarone della Valpolicella wine barriques. Bottled at 53% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural in colour, it was released as a three-cask marriage with an outturn of 1,060 bottles.
The Amarone finish brings a more concentrated red-fruit character to Glasgow 1770’s unpeated style, and that works especially well here. Amarone casks are valued for the way they add layers of cherry, dried fruit, gentle sweetness and warming spice, while the distillery’s own notes highlight floral rose, bright vanilla and a confectionery edge alongside that deeper fruit profile.
