Glasgow 1770 Sherry Cask Batch #1 Lightly Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky 6 Year Old · 2019 Vintage
In stock
Glasgow 1770 Sherry Cask Matured Batch 1 is a lightly peated single malt created by combining equal proportions of peated and unpeated spirit, both double distilled at The Glasgow Distillery. Each component was initially matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks before undergoing extended secondary maturation in two contrasting styles of sherry hogshead from the renowned Ximénez-Spínola winery.
The unpeated whisky spent five years in ex-bourbon casks followed by two years and one month in Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads. The peated component matured for three years and six months in ex-bourbon casks before spending a further three years and two months in Ximénez-Spínola Medium Sherry hogsheads, produced using the Pedro Ximénez grape. The two parcels were then married and bottled at 55% ABV.
Limited to 1,600 bottles, this inaugural batch balances rich sherry sweetness with fragrant citrus, polished oak and controlled peat smoke. It is presented at natural colour, without chill filtration and supplied in a gift carton.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Polished oak, cedarwood and fresh pencil shavings are joined by clementine, orange, toffee apple and vanilla cream, with a soft layer of sweet smoke.
Palate
Sweet peat smoke opens into raisins, dark fruits and waxy citrus oils. Candied orange peel and fresh orange oil add brightness, while vanilla and gentle oak spice bring depth and balance.
Finish
Gently drying and structured, with warming oak spice, lingering orange oil, a light saline edge and a prolonged thread of sweet smoke.
