Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and a burnished mahogany depth.

Nose

Opulent sherry-forward nose, thick with raisin and fig, layered over polished oak and toasted almond. Dark chocolate and orange peel mingle with warm spice—cinnamon and clove—creating a resinous, refined sweetness. At 62% ABV the aroma is vibrant and immediate, inviting slow, deliberate nosing.

Palate

At cask strength, this 17-year Coleburn unfolds with a velvety, oak-forward richness. Dense vanilla and toffee mingle with dark fruit and baking spice, while a warm, peppery spine carries through a long, toasty finish.

Finish

Long, warming finish with peppery spice and sturdy oak. Dried-fruit sweetness and dark chocolate linger, softened by toasted nut notes and a whisper of smoke. The 62% ABV sustains a refined heat, tapering slowly to velvet with an enduring, measured fade.

(Cole-Burn) Coleburn was founded in 1897 by John Robertson & Son in Longmorn, south of Elgin, during the late Victorian whisky boom. The distillery was designed by Charles Doig, the architect behind many of Scotland’s most recognisable pagoda-roofed distilleries, and production began in 1899.
