Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a warm mahogany cast.
Nose
Coastal peat and iodine surge from the glass, a briny sea breeze carrying smoked kelp and sea spray. Beneath, rich sherry nuance threads dark fruit, fig and treacle through coffee-caramel and toasted oak. The aroma is vigorous yet refined, a maritime warmth that hints at the 23 years of cask character within, balanced by elegance and depth.
Palate
Powerful yet refined, the palate delivers a torrent of maritime peat and iodine at first, instantly coated in a lush sherry-driven sweetness. Dried fig and raisin mingle with dark chocolate, espresso, and toasted oak, while peppery spice threads through the mid-palate. The 61.7% ABV sits like a warm halo, integrated rather than hot, finishing long with smoke, salted caramel, and lingering coal/ash notes.
Finish
Long, peaty finish that travels on sea spray and iodine, then settles into luxurious sherry sweetness. The heat from 61.7% ABV warms the palate as caramel, cocoa and spice unfold, with mineral undertones threading through the smoke. The finish remains dry, resinous and saline, gradually fading to a refined, oak-kissed echo.
